Why We Exist
The City of Portsmouth, VA has the highest rate of homelessness and the fewest resources in Hampton Roads. Portsmouth poverty rate in 2017 was 18.5%; 42% were children under the age of 18. Nationally, homelessness amongst women and children has increased. Homeless children are twice as likely to experience hunger, health problems and repeat a grade in school.
Who We Serve
We serve single mothers (18-35), their children, and pregnant women who are experiencing homelessness, poverty or in a crisis situation.
