Fresh Start: Khari’s Journey to Stability

Khari joined our Short-Term Transitional Housing Program on January 14, 2025, seeking a fresh start for herself and her 5-year-old son. After losing her apartment in 2023, she spent months moving from couch to couch before reaching out to Firm Foundation for support.
From the beginning, Khari was determined to rebuild her life and provide a stable home for her son. She continued her remote work despite the uncertainty of her housing situation and tapped into McKinney-Vento services so her son could remain in his school without disruption.
While in the program, Khari participated in financial literacy classes, working diligently to manage debt, improve spending habits, and pay down a previous eviction. She also engaged with our Transformational Coach, Ms. Gigi, and completed the Changes That Heal sessions—building resilience and hope for the future.
Her journey was not without setbacks, but Khari never gave up. After just nine months, she achieved her goal: moving into a new apartment where she and her son can thrive.
Reflecting on her journey, Khari shared:
“I am glad I opened up and put my pride aside and reached out to you for help! I am very thankful for everything and I love every bonus experience that comes with it as well as the knowledge I am gaining when it comes to many different situations… me and mine, we are forever grateful.”
